Facebook Live success for town council

21/03/2017 @ 10:13

A recent experiment by Newtown Town Council to use social media to reach out to constituents has proved a success, it says.

The town council held a Facebook Live surgery which attracted 2,000 views and a reach of over 4,500. The live broadcast allowed people to submit questions which were then answered via the live broadcast on the social media platform.

The Mayor, Cllr Richard Edwards, took viewers on a tour of the ton council offices, which incorporates the Robert Owen Museum, before taking part in a question and answer session.

Cllr Edwards said: “We would like to thank everyone that got involved with the live surgery and sent in questions, we are determined to be open and approachable and this is just another way the council can communicate its message.”
