Survival is Robins target

Newtown are targeting Dafabet Welsh Premier League survival – rather than a place in Europe.

That’s the view of manager Chris Hughes ahead of tonight’s trip to Mid Wales rivals Aberystwyth Town in the Conference Play-Offs even though the Robins sit on top of the group.

Goal difference separates them from Llandudno but Hughes insists his side must concentrate on staying up, rather than securing a place in the end-of-season play-offs for a chance to play in the UEFA Cup again.

“When you are in the group that we are in you have to make sure you stay clear of the bottom two places,” he said.

Caersws go to Porthmadog in the Huws Gray Alliance with player manager Graham Evans annoyed at the method his side went down 3-0 to Penrhyncoch in midweek.

The Bluebirds finished the match with nine men after Will Thomas and Paul Grant. Both will miss the trip to North Wales.
