Awards for Newtown college students

Students from Newtown’s NPTC Group college campus were among those picking up recognition at this year’s Students Awards.

Over 200 students attended the event in Swansea. Carl Fowler, a student from the  Hairdressing and Applied Therapies course in Newtown was one of the successful students to collect not just one high achiever award but two.

Carl received the Outstanding Student of the Year award for Hairdressing & Applied Therapies and was the winner of the Adult Learner of the Year award.

Chief Executive of NPTC Group, Mark Dacey, acknowledged the successful students, he said:  “How important events like this are for celebrating the achievements of students. There are so many outstanding achievements that students have gained during their time at NPTC Group of Colleges. Some have achieved these high levels of success during difficult times. This is testament to their hard work, dedication and commitment.”

Carl was joined at the event by other students from north Powys, including Jordan Dunt, who took home the award for Outstanding Student of the Year in Catering, Agriculture and Hospitality; Nathan Edwards received the award for Outstanding Student of the Year in Work-Based Learning and Ffion Ward for Outstanding Student of the Year in Health, Social & Childcare. Cerys Batten achieved the award for Creative, Visual & Performing Arts and Lisa Crowther-James, who was awarded Outstanding Engineering School Winner.
