Newtown got their Dafabet Welsh Premier League play-off programme off to a flying start at Llandudno yesterday.
The Robins beat the Seasiders, who were sitting at the top of the Conference places, 2-1 and are now only four points behind them.
Jason Oswell opened the Robins' account at Maesdu Park when he headed home from a Craig Williams corner and the lead was doubled on the stroke of half-time when loanee Nicky Rushton fired past former Newtown keeper Dave Roberts.
Llandudno did pull a goal back through a penalty from Sam Hart on his debut after keeper Jack Perry had fouled Marc Williams, but were unable to find an equaliser in the remaining 10 minutes.
