Sad news had reached MyNewtown the local historian David Pugh has passed away.

Mr Pugh, well known for being the fountain of history and knowledge about Newtown, is understood to have passed away after a short illness.

He was a former town councillor, but was also the person that people went to for any historical information about Newtown. He was also keen to protect the historic environment of the town and has been a member of Newtown Civic Society.

He met with MyNewtown last year to talk about the Royal Welsh Warehouse (Pryce Jones Building) when it was being sold.

He was also best known for being seen with his camera, recording buildings for historic records.
