A Newtown woman has admitted benefits fraud amounting to more than £70,000.

Sarah Jane Jones, 42 of Ceiriog, Treowen, Newtown, admitted 12 charges of fraud and obtaining money transfers involving income support, care’s allowance, tax credits, housing benefit and evasion of liability to pay council tax.

The court was told it was alleged Jones failed to declare she was living in a common household with a man who was in employment.

The offences were between 2006 and February 2015, according to prosecutors.

The Judge at Told Crown Court adjourned the case for pre-sentence reports prior to sentencing.
