A workshop to help people take control of their health and place less pressure on the NHS is to be held in Newtown later this month.

Organised by the Powys Health Teaching Board, the Centre for Long Term Condition Management is running the workshops entitled “New Year, New Me."

"The workshops will include information from a range of health groups including PAVO, MIND, Occupational Health, Respiratory Nurses, Diabetes UK, British Heart Foundation, Immunisation Coordinator and the Centre for Long Term Conditions Management," said a spokesperson.

"One patient who attended the residential programme that the centre offers stated “the programme changed my life, it taught me to accept and cope with my medical condition rather than fight it all the time, my future is looking positive”

The workshops will be held at Newtown AFC on Friday, 20 January between 10am –12.30pm and 1.00 - 3.30pm.

"These events are free of charge, so please come along and enjoy a cup of tea/coffee and find out more about living a healthier happy life," said a spokesperson.
