Amanda Lewis, Powys County Council’s Strategic Director for People, has left the authority it has been confirmed.

In a brief statement Powys County Council Leader Barry Thomas confirmed her departure but no reasons have been given for the surprise move.

The council has announced that Powys Teaching Health Board’s Chief Executive, Carol Shillabeer, will in addition to her current role take on that of Interim Strategic Director for People at PCC.

The role also includes the Statutory Director of Social Services responsibilities.

Leader Councillor Barry Thomas said; “I would like to thank Amanda for her hard work and dedication over the past years . I wish her well for the future.

“Carol is uniquely positioned to lead the integration of health and social care services in the county as we move into the exciting phase of collaborative working.

“An options appraisal will now identify the best delivery model for health and social services in Powys.  This will ensure we use our combined resources most effectively whilst ensuring the best possible outcomes for our citizens.”

“As Carol will continue to fulfil her role as Chief Executive of Powys Teaching Health Board an Interim Operations Director will be appointed to support her in her interim role with the council.”

A PCC statement quoted Amanda Lewis, saying that it has been a privilege to have undertaken the role of Strategic Director of People for the last three and a half years and previously the role of the Head of Children’s .Services.

She expressed her personal thanks and admiration to all staff within housing, children’s services, adult social care and partners for all their hard work and commitment in making a difference to the lives of the people of Powys.
