A group of Newtown students are attempting to raise cash on a crowdfunding website to help them produce their own future film.

The students on the Creative Media Level Three course at NPTC Group’s Newtown college campus are embarking on filming of a thriller called Desolation Peak.

But they need to raise £1,200 towards the cost of props, costumes and equipment.

“The film is a thriller about six friends who go to the Desolation Peak Northern Cascades in the state of Washington, USA, to honour their recently deceased friend,” explained Emme Green, a student on the course.

“Whilst there, however, they become separated from each other and feel that there is a murderer trying to kill them off, one by one.”

The film has been entirely generated, written, produced and filmed by the course’s fourteen students who range from the ages of 17-24.

“We aim to have it completed by June 2017. However, we need funding to make this possible, and have a Kickstarter campaign to raise the £1,200 we need towards costumes, props and equipment.

“We have currently raised over £500, but need to reach our target amount by 21 of January 2017, or else this film might not be possible.”
