Newtown battled to a 3-1 win in the Dafabet Welsh Premier League at Rhyl in a feisty affair which saw three players sent-off in the second half.

Home keeper Owen Evans was credited with opening Robins' goal on 22 minutes and the hosts should have levelled, first when Toby Jones fired a good chance wide, then Rob Hughes was denied in a one-on-one with Newtown keeper Dave Jones and Zyaac Edwards volleyed the rebound over from six yards.

Ryan Kershaw put the visitors further ahead just before the hour mark when he finished-off a breakaway move before Newtown's Jamie Price was red-carded for kicking-out at Hughes.

The hosts were also down to 10-men when Hughes was sent-off but managed to reduce the arrears when Rio Ahmadi headed home from a Carl Lamb assist.

Edwards followed his team-mate down the tunnel after lashing-out at Jason Oswell and the nine men conceded a third when Andy Jones scored in the third minute of stoppage time.

In the Huws Gray Alliance Caersws won a hard fought local derby in tricky conditions at Llanfair while Zberriew sprayed top of the Spar Mid Wales League with a 3-0 win at home against Bow Street.
