The annual Salvation Army Newtown Christmas Present Appeal will be launched on Wednesday.

The Salvation Army in Newtown launches their Christmas Present Appeal 2016 on Wednesday 16th November 2016. The appeal will run until Wednesday 14th December .

“The public are invited to donate gifts and toys for children and young people who otherwise would have little or nothing on Christmas morning in the area,” said a Newtown Salvation Army official.

“This year we are being helped by a lady who herself received one of our gift parcels. She says her family benefitted from it so much when they had their gift parcel that she would like to be able to help others now.”

From Wednesday, 16th November, members of the public are asked to drop off a new unwrapped gift for a child aged 0-16 years at their charity shop at 7-8 Market Street, Newtown or the Royal Mail Callers Office in Newtown.

Local Salvation Army representatives will then distribute them to children and families in need in the area through their own networks, local groups and social services.

“Thanks to the generosity of people Newtown and the surrounding area last year, The Salvation Army here were able to distribute toys to many families in the area who might otherwise have struggled at Christmas. We look forward to receiving your gifts,” added the spokesperson.
