Choir sings in the street for charity

Something might have caught your eye or even your ear in Newtown over the weekend.

Newtown and District Male Voice Choir performed a varied selection of songs in Broad Street in aid of Ty Hafan children's hospice, which provides specialist palliative care for children living in Wales.

Under the baton of Musical Director Christine Roberts, and accompanied by Gill Owen on the piano, the choir entertained shoppers with classics from the choir's repertoire, which included favourites such as Calon Lan, The Rose and Can You Feel The Love Tonight.

The mini concert was organised by Specsavers.

More information about the choir is available on their website www.newtownmalevoicechoir.co.uk.

The choir is always keen to welcome new members and anyone interested in joining is invited to attend one of their weekly rehearsals.

Rehearsals take place every Tuesday at 7.30pm at the Pryce Jones building.

Alternatively, you can contact the choir's Secretary Enid Morgan on 01686 626894.
