Newtown's young people urged to have say on library

Children and young people in Newtown will be able to give their views on the town's library from today as part of a survey into library services.

Powys County Council’s Library Service is taking part the Welsh Government’s Welsh Public Library Standards survey, which will end on Friday, 5 November.

Children and young people under the age of 16 will be asked for their view on their local library.  The results will show how they currently use the library service and their satisfaction with the services currently on offer to them.

If any child or young person goes into the library during the survey period, they will be asked to complete a simple, confidential questionnaire giving their views. If they are unable to complete it themselves, a parent/carer or a member of library staff can help them.

Cllr Graham Brown, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Library Services, said: “We are looking forward to hearing what children and young people think of our services.  The results will give us a clear indication of the things we need to improve.”
