Expansion for Newtown medical company

A Newtown medical supplies business has received investment as part the expansion of its base in the town.

CellPath, which is based on the Mochdre Industrial Estate, has secured £565,000 funding from HSBC to construct a 10,000sq ft extension to its 20,000sq ft warehouse.

The company manufactures and supplies cellular pathology products and is undertaking the expansion to cater for the growing consumables side of the business.

It is understood a number of new jobs will be created.

The consumables element of the business designs and manufactures products for use in the pathology and cytology markets, including tissue processing cassettes, microscope slide trays and various laboratory equipment.

The new extension will increase warehousing, distribution and kit assembly.

Paul Webber, joint managing director at CellPath, said: "CellPath has grown exponentially since it was founded in 1969 and we remain an ambitious business which is always looking for opportunities for further expansion."

CellPath supplies more than 164 hospitals and NHS Trusts throughout the UK and sells its products to 43 countries worldwide.
