Staff and pupils from Powys Training have rolled up their sleeves to unite and tackle a nagging problem in Newtown.

Powys Training - a department of Powys County Council - joined forces with Keep Wales Tidy to get to grips with litter and were joined by other volunteers fed up with litter blighting some of the town’s most scenic walkways.

The Newtown litter pick concentrated on the riverside walk area where the team was also joined by employees from McDonalds.

Carla Reeves, from Powys Training said: “As part of our commitment to develop people and maximising potential, we work closely with local employers and the voluntary sector. The litter picks were a good experience and showed how rewarding community volunteering can be.”
