The line-up have been confirmed for next week’s Newtown Food and Community Festival.

On the 3rd and 4th September organisers will bring together all the ingredients of the festival to the Town Hall Grounds in Newtown for a free weekend.

Producers from Newtown and the surrounding areas come together to showcase what’s on offer. “We have cakes, honey, cheese, chutneys, teas, coffees, and ice creams, anything that takes your fancy,” said a festival spokesperson.

“On the Community Lawn we also have the beer tent showcasing locally produced beers, ciders and wines. We even have cocktails.”

He added: “Community groups and craft stalls come together on the community lawn to showcase what they are doing in the Newtown area and give information on how people can get involved.”

Music throughout the weekend features Tommy Mills, Ffonic, Klemonauts, Newtown Silver Band and and more.

Artists are on stage from 11am on Saturday through to 5pm. On Sunday it starts with Robin Huw Bowen and his harp at 11am through to the final act starting at 3pm with Clovis and Harriet.

“This year we have the remastered Festival Kitchen with workshops, masterclasses, demonstrations and competitions. These include Sugarcraft Workshops from the Montgomeryshire Guild of Sugarcraft, a Butchery Demonstration from Ian Cooke and a junior chef competition judged by award winning Chef, Neil Roberts,” said the spokesperson.

If you would like to get involved in the kitchen activities, contact the organisers on 01686 625544 or email festival@newtown.org.uk.

The added ingredient to this year’s festival is the addition of the Food Fest Evening Stage.

On Saturday, 3rd September we continue the music, food and drink into the night with performances from Abi Foster, Alex Davies Duo and The Smile, plus an appearance from The Authentic DJ’s.

From 6pm until midnight a bar will be opened and the street food will still be available.

Entertainment and workshops from Llanidloes based Zu-Arial will be on Saturday with performances at 11am and 3:30pm.

The Children’s Village includes the return of the Mad Hatters Tea Party at 2pm on both days. Tickets are £1 each and are available from the Rush Fancy Dress Marquee on the day.
