A-level students in Newtown are today picking up their results and the high school has revealed it has achieved a 100 per cent pass rate for the third year running.

Almost half of all qualifications awarded gained top grades, with 64 per cent of all A Level entries graded at A*-C and almost half of all BTEC entries achieving the highest two grades.

All year 13 students followed the Advanced Level Welsh Baccalaureate, with 85% of them achieving the qualification at A/A*, almost double on last year’s performance.

Headteacher, Mr G Harkness, said: “I am proud of all of the students and their fantastic results and the school wishes them every success with their future pathways. It is a great achievement that nearly all our students achieved their first preference place at university.”
