A motorist had to be cut free from a car after it collided with a telegraph pole near Newtown.

A fire and rescue crew from Newtown was joined by a crew from Welshpool after the accident near Garthmyl just after 5pm yesterday.

“The incident involved one private vehicle in collision with a telegraph pole. One occupant was released with the help of ambulance and fire services, while the second occupant was extricated using hydraulic cutting equipment.

Both casualties were assessed by paramedics and the air ambulance. Firefighters left the scene at 6pm.”

The spokesperson said the most dangerous hours on the roads on weekdays are the rush hours between 7am and 9am and between 3pm and 6pm.

Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service advise road users to remain vigilant and drive with care during these peak times to avoid collisions.
