Free respite care advice being offered next week

Carers in Newtown are being offered free advice on respite relief by a care agency in the area.

Abacare, which provides care across Wales, is hosting a Respite Care Awareness Week from July 25 until 29 and will be advising people on the topic.

Sue Richardson, Operations Executive and carer at Abacare, said: “Lots of people who care for friends or family members aren’t aware of the respite relief they can benefit from. They deserve a well-earned rest as looking after someone can often become physically and emotionally overwhelming.

“We are inviting carers to call us on 0345 163 2150 to get some free advice on the different ways they can look after themselves and give themselves a break.

“We can also let people know about our respite relief services. As well as live-in care, we can also provide social care workers to individuals or families who require it on a temporary basis.”

Sue added: “Our care roles are extremely important ones that benefit the elderly and vulnerable. Carers provide support and assistance to our service users with personal care, washing, dressing, medication administration and domestic work.

“We can offer full and part time contracts as well as mileage and travel time. We also offer full training with our in-house trainer, which includes a company induction, first aid, information on dementia, health and safety, food safety, infection control, handling medication and moving and handling service users.

“We also offer the Qualification and Credit Framework (QCF), formerly known as National Vocational Qualifications, to all our team members who show commitment, reliability and true passion. We provide a great support network for all of our carers.”
