School officially opened

24/05/2016 @ 10:22

The schoolchildren began filing into Newtown's latest primary school, Ysgol Dafydd Llwyd, in January, but yesterday the time came for the formal opening of the Welsh-medium school with a celebration by the pupils.

The multi-million pound school replaced the smaller and older location off Park Lane, providing much needed new learning facilities in the area.

Funded by Powys County Council and the Welsh Government, the school is sited next to Newtown High School, off Plantation Lane.

Pupils, staff, dignitaries, politicians and former staff took part in the event which saw music and singing from the pupils.
