Police say residents in Newtown and the surrounding area have been targeted in a scam seeking their personal details.
They have warned anyone telephoned, emailed or text by someone saying they are from Her Majesty’s Customs and Excise (HMRC) to not give any bank or personal details to them.
“Residents are being contacted by persons claiming to be calling from HMRC and attempting to discuss and receive personal details.
“We would like to remind residents not to give any personal details to anyone over the phone or via email or text,” said a police spokesperson.
