A Formula 1 enthusiast has given up his job as a labourer to become a car salesman at Arthurs in Newtown.
Dave Richards spent six weeks surrounded by Formula 1 cars when he was working at the Goodwood Festival of Speed and it was enough to convince him that he should give up his job as a manual labourer and look for a position within the motor industry.
He contacted distant relative Andrew Jones, a car sales consultant at award winning Vauxhall dealership Arthurs of Newtown.
Andrew advised there was an opening, put in a good word, and that has resulted in farmer’s son Dave, 19, getting his break in the motor trade at the Pool Road Vauxhall showroom.
“I have always had an interest in cars and knew that Andrew enjoyed working at Arthurs,” said Dave, who has quickly settled into his new role.
A young farmer and very much a ‘rural boy,’ he lives in the village of Llanwnog, attended Trefeglwys Primary School and Llanidloes High School.
Said Steve Hughes, Group Operations Manager at Arthurs: “Dave is well liked, very conscientious and determined to do well. We expect great things of him.”
