3008 just keeps on winning

If Peugeot pick up any more awards for the outstanding 3008 bosses will need to consider building a bigger trophy room.

The 3008 is one of the company’s prized possessions and has started 2019 the same way it ended 2018 – the latest award being the 61st global honour since launch.

Named as ‘Best Medium SUV’ at the 2019 Carbuyer Best Car awards, the Peugeot 3008 SUV has been praised for providing the SUV sector with a stylish family car which is enjoyable to drive.

The ‘Best Medium SUV’ award from Carbuyer is just the latest in a range of awards picked up by the Peugeot 3008 SUV in 2018, after being named ‘Best Family Car’ in the UK Car of the Year Awards 2018 and ‘Best Medium SUV of the Year’ in the 2018 Fleet World Honours.

The 3008 has found 37,000 homes in the UK since launch in January 2017 and despite growing competition in the fiercely competitive SUV sector remains a firm favourite thanks to typical Peugeot stylingand cutting edge technology.

It’s easy to see by judges remain impressed by the i-Cockpit,12.3” head-up digital instrument display and 8.0” touchscreen with Mirror Screen functionality, comprising of Android Auto, Apple CarPlay™ and Mirror Link. 

Peugeot scores points because despite adding everything that is now expected to be found on the pace-setting models of today the 3008 remains a bloody good drive.

We tested the FT Line Premium Blue HDi 130 and quickly discovered a comfortable ride, all the space the average family motorist is likely to need along with good economy and a competitive price too.

The diesel unit on test was a new addition for 2018 – replacing the 1.6BlueHDi 120 – and produced a top speed of 119mph alongside 0-62mph in 11.5seconds through an eight-speed automatic gearbox. Add combined fuel consumption figures of 70mpg and you start to see why this is such an exceptional car.

The cockpit oozes class and quality normally associated with a different level with contrast stitching to armrest, gear lever, dashboard facia, door pockets, floor mats, steering wheel, roofline and seating.

Outwardly the stylish appearance is enhanced by GT Line emblems to tailgate and front wings, a stunning grille chequered with black Peugeot lettering, black diamond roof, chrome side window trims, sports front bumper design, twin exhausts and good looking18inch two-tone alloys.

Behind the wheel you immediately feel at home in very comfortable seating and while it might take you some time to get used to all the technology in front of you it’s all found in the right place.

The 3008 is a genuine five-seater, capable of comfortably handling five adults. If you want more you would do well to look at the 5008. There’s also a good-sized boot and rear seats fold neatly to accommodate extra luggage when needed.

The test car would set you back £32,725 with an extra £525 for metallic paint and falls into the 18E insurance group. Low C02 emissions of 105g/km also make the model attractive to the fleet buyer or driver.

With 61 awards already in the bag the 3008 SUV is a shining example of the quality product being produced by Peugeot these days.
