The curator of the Robert Owen Museum in Newtown has won a top award for her work.

Pat Brandwood has received the Co-Operator of the Year Award at the Owen Awards, presented by Co-Op Cymru to celebrate best examples of co-operation in Wales.

Pat said: "The team at the museum has done a lot in recent years to refresh the museum, conserve the historic artefacts and reach out to the community. It is important to see this as an award for all those who have helped us sustain and improve this marvellous resource."

The award was made for work in improving the museum which celebrates social reformer Robert Owen who was born and died in Newtown and formed the Co-Operative movement which led to today's Co-Operative business.

The museum is situated at The Cross in Broad Street, Newtown.
