In what is a landmark agreement for the online media industry, MyTown Media Ltd - parent of MyNewtown - has teamed up with Powys Teaching Health Board in a bid to keep us all healthy this winter.
With MyTown now covering Powys through our four sites, the local Health Board has recognised our influence within local communities and will work with us to deliver important health messages through the coming months.
Never before has news delivery been so impactful, and with up to 30,000 readers every single month, no single media group can provide the sort of reach that MyTown does.
And this agreement shows that we are not just about news delivery, but equally important is playing a role in serving the local population.
By also utlising our social media following, which is nearly 10,000 strong, we will ensure that the health message is clear this winter.
We are kicking off with a flu busting campaign for November so that everyone who is eligible has a vaccine in Powys.
The following can have a flu vaccine right now:
- Anyone over the age of 65
- Pregnant
- Those with long term medical conditions
- Those in nursing or residential care homes
- Carers of the elderly or disabled
- This year the vaccine is also being offered, needle-free, to 2 and 3 year olds
- Children in year 7 can have the vaccination at school, needle-free
And this winter, pharmacies across Powys are also offering the vaccine, and you don’t need to make an appointment; just turn up.
