Pharmacies to provide flu vaccine

30/10/2013 @ 05:12

The flu vaccine is being offered in Newtown by two pharmacies to help ease waiting times at GP surgeries.

Powys Teaching Health Board has urged anyone in a vulnerable group to receive their seasonal flu vaccine to keep them  protected against the complications of the virus.

Boots and Lloyd pharmacies in Newtown are providing the jabs in addition to the Newtown and Montgomery GP practices.

And this year, children in year 7 can also have the vaccination at school, and it’s even done without needles!

The Flu Vaccine is recommended for anyone over the age of 65, pregnant, those with long term medical conditions, those in nursing or residential care homes and carers of the elderly or disabled.

Also this year the vaccine is also being offered, needle-free, to two and three year olds.

You can just turn up at the pharmacies for the vaccination. They will pass on your details to your GP to ensure your records are up to date.
