We have great news for you - soon you'll be able to get your very latest news from Newtown and surrounding communities direct to you mobile phone or tablet, as well as sending us your news items and photos direct through the app.
We've been given the green light for our state-of-the-art new app which places MyNewtown readers at the very cutting edge of the British local media industry.
Following the successful launch of the mobie app for our sister site MyWelshpool last month, we've been amazed at the response and now we're rolling it out.
We have developed in-house, right here in Montgomeryshire, a mobile app which can be downloaded for FREE for all smart phone devices and tablets.
So what will this new app bring to your reader experience?
- - Immediate access to news on the go
- - A click away from the specially-created mobile full version of the site
- - News segregated to the village/town where you live
- - An easy way for you to contact us, so if you see something of interest then simply click on the ‘contact us’ button and follow the instructions!
It has never been easier for you to keep up-to-date with local news or to get in touch with us. The contact us facility will enable readers to send in pictures of incidents they see or something quirky which we can then share with everyone else.
For our advertisers, the app will not only attract an army of new readers that live their lives through their mobile devices, it will also increase traffic to the site to enhance their brand awareness too. After all, it is thanks to the support of our wonderful advertisers that ensures our dynamic free service for us all to enjoy.
“In developing this app we have looked at the leading international news models out there and tried to implement their best features into what we have developed,” said our Technical and Development Director, Alan Davies.
“It will place MyNewtown at the very forefront of local news delivery and we will introduce the app across all MyTown Media Ltd sites in the coming months.”
The development represents a significant investment made possible after MyTown Media Ltd was chosen by Nesta, the UK Innovation Foundation, to be part of its Destination Local programme which received funding from the Welsh Government.
Since MyNewtown and MyWelshpool changed the local media landscape over the past three years, the group has expanded to include MyRadnor and MyBrecon to ensure we have Powys covered. The latest reader figures show that over 24,000 unique visitors log on to the sites every month.
We'll be launching the new app this week - so keep you eyes open for how to access MyNewtown on your mobile and portable device - it couldn't be easier.
