Air Ambulance will be dropping in

25/10/2012 @ 07:32

The Wales Air Ambulance will drop in to Newtown FC's Latham Park home on Saturday as part of a fund raising event.

The Social Club committee have arranged a Charity Day at Latham Park to fit in with the home tie against Bala, kicking off at 2.30pm.

Air Ambulance representative, Ann Lewis, has made the arrangements and will be collecting donations for this very worthy cause during the day.

Throughout the day a "dummy" helicopter will be present as well as the real one arriving around 1.30pm if emergencies permit.

There are three Air Ambulance helicopters based in Wales with the South covered from Swansea, the north from Caernarfon and the mid-Wales area from Welshpool.

Each helicopter is equipped with three crew members, one pilot and two advanced life support paramedics who are trained in the latest techniques in pre-hospital emergency care.

Each helicopter can be launched within 3 minutes of receiving a call and can be anywhere in Wales in 20mins. It costs over £6 million per year to operate the service. The charity raises all the funds required for the day to day running of the emergency missions, with each mission costing on average £1500.
