London 2012 will be remembered as an event that has transformed the mood of the nation, but it has also made a superstar out of Newtown baby less than a fortnight old!
For alongside the names that have adorned Britain’s billboards like Jess Ennis, Andy Murray, Sir Chris Hoy and Ben Ainslee is…. Dakota Jones!
The picture on the right was emailed to fast food giant McDonald’s by dad, Mike, to show the family’s support of Team GB, and they were stunned to receive a reply saying their pride and joy would be splashed across the nation’s billboards today (Friday) for 24 hours.
“We were stunned to receive the reply to say she would be appearing at places like the famous giant screens at Piccadilly and even within the Olympic Park itself!” said Mike, who is from Welshpool but lives in Newtown with his partner Clare Williams (left).
“We have had an amazing fortnight with the arrival of Dakota and the brilliant Olympics but this really was the icing on the cake!”
Dakota’s image, as part of McDonald’s national campaign to show Team GB and Olympics support across the country, will also appear on advertising screens in Manchester, Glasgow and Birmingham Bullring.
