Chamber choir celebrates 10 years

06/07/2012 @ 05:46

A Montgomeryshire chamber choir is to celebrate its 10th anniversary next week with a concert in Tregynon.

Quindici wilkl host the celebration concert, entitle 'In Praise of Music' at St Cynon's Church on Sunday, 15th July.

Choir director, Suzanne Edwards, said: “We wanted to organize a thank you concert for everyone who has supported us in the last 10 years - whether that has been as audience members, other musical groups we have performed with, soloists, organisations who have invited us to sing for them, or venues we have been fortunate to perform in.

"It’s going to be a wonderful occasion where we will be welcoming friends from all over the country to join with us in celebrating all things Quindici!”

The afternoon will begin at 3pm with a concert in the church featuring music from the choir’s extensive repertoire. Tea will then be served at The Old Shop and the afternoon will conclude with a service of Choral Evensong at 5.30pm in St Cynon’s.

Suzanne added: “We’re especially pleased to be performing in Tregynon church, as it was as a fund raising event for the church that Quindici was formed back in 2001. The concert programme will feature music from the last 10 years that has particular significance to us, and we’re especially looking forward to leading the Choral Evensong with Stanford’s Magnificat and Nunc Dimitis in C, one of our favorite settings. Our organist, and my Co-Director of Quindici, Tim Mills, will be joining us from his home in Glasgow, and we’re all looking forward to having him back for this special occasion.”

There is no charge for the concert, just a retiring collection for the Church. For more details please contact Suzanne on 07970 955 718 or e mail zanne@hurstbank.fsnet.co.uk  The choir’s CD, Even Such Is Time, will  be on sale during the afternoon.
