New Loyalty Card for shoppers

19/06/2012 @ 11:46

A new loyalty card has been launched in Powys, offering residents the chance to shave pounds off their weekly shopping bills.

The Local Loyalty Powys Card has been launched by local resident Rachel Hitchcock, in a bid to encourage shoppers to buy local with the incentive of discounts and special offers across a variety of shops and businesses.

The Membership cards went on sale this week at just £12, a cost that could be easily be recouped in the first fortnight based on the average family spend.

“There is such a variety of independent businesses in and around the town that I felt a Loyalty Card could support,” said Rachel. “I have been overwhelmed by the initial response from businesses with over 30 already signed up and many more set to come on line in the coming weeks.”

“These shops and businesses will offer a variety of discounts to Membership card holders who can really benefit and save money by spending their money locally. It’s all about doing the best we can for our local economy by supporting our independent shops and services against the ‘triple whammy’ of the recession, internet shopping & global giant superstores.”

Rachel, 49, brings 30 years of marketing and business experience to the scheme and is confident that it will stretch out across the County. “Local Loyalty Powys is a genuinely local project, managed in Powys, for Powys. The aim is to encourage people to keep shopping in their high street and local communities - and to keep Powys money ringing through Powys tills” said Rachel.

Membership cards are now available from Celtic Company and WR Davies in Welshpool; PC-Q and Earthlight in Llanidloes; and The Wishing Well in Llanfyllin.

“Think local, shop local and help yourself and your family save money,” says Rachel.
