Hafren launches art competition

Following on from the hugely successful 2009 Christmas Art Competition Hafren are now launching their 2011 Themed Art Competition.

The competition welcomes artists over the age of 16 years of age from Mid Wales and borders to submit original works within the set theme ‘Revelation’. Entries will be judged by a panel of three local judges.

The exhibition will open to the public on Monday, 29^th November 2011 and all entrants and their families are invited to a private viewing on Saturday 26^th November.

The competition is sponsored by local businesses; 1^st prize being donated by Hafren, 2^nd prize by Hughes Architects and 3^rd prize by Hanratty & Co. There will also be a people’s Choice Prize of £150, donated by Coleg Powys, where a winner will be decided by the public.

Voting will commence at 10am on Monday 29^th November and will close on Thursday 26^th January 2012 – ensure that you get your vote in, Hafren is open 10am – 5.30pm Monday to Friday and two hours before a performance.

The theatre’s administrator, Sara Clutton said: “We feel its important that local artists have the opportunity to showcase their work here, with approximately 5,000 people walking through our doors during the next few months, it will be great exposure for the works on display.

We are also fortunate to have our extended gallery space and are looking forward to welcoming more entries this time. I would like to thank all the sponsors and the judges for their continued support in this event”.
