Newtown artist puts exhibition online

An artist from Newtown who worked for Laura Ashley in Carno and met the late Princess Diana through his work, has put his works online as part of a digital exhibition to widen the appeal of his work.

Brian Jones, who recently appeared on BBC Wales' 'Welsh Greats' programme on the life of Laura Ashley, has clients throughout the world but has, up until now, been reluctant to digitise his paintings for others to see via the web. This week he launched a new website, www.brianjonesartist.co.uk, with his first 'digital' exhibition.

The exhibition shows a range of his paintings normally only seen on the walls of galleries, with his most recent exhibition at Hafren (formerly Theatr Hafren), in Newtown.

Brian's professional career was as a textile designer, spending many years working in the design studio's of Laura Ashley which was based in Carno and Newtown.

He is very proud that the print designs he created whilst working for her can be seen all over the world and are as popular now as they were then. His years of professional experience as a print designer, mainly working in fine line and minuet detail, are now incorporated into his delicate and attractive paintings.

Brian said he is a romantic at heart and is very much influenced by the beautiful countryside of Mid Wales.
