You might have to vote elsewhere

It could be all change on the voting front in Newtown and district as Powys County Council considers changing polling districts and polling stations.

The council is to look at where polling stations are based and the areas they cover.

The review could mean voters having to place their vote at a different polling station in the future, although it is not know if the review will mean a cut in the number of polling stations and polling districts being expanded.

“Views from electors on any aspect of the current polling districts and/or polling places within Powys are being invited,” said a council spokesperson. “Local political parties and councilors are being consulted as part of the review.”

The consultation will continue until Friday, 16 September when all submissions on the plans must be received by the Electoral Services Office at County Hall, Llandrindod Wells. Details about the review can be found at www.powys.gov.uk or telephoning 01597 826747; or by e-mail to electoral.services@powys.gov.uk.
