Work on £1.3m riverside venue to begin soon

Work on the new £1.3 million riverside venue in Newtown is expected to start soon after a contractor was selected by Open Newtown.
The venue will be built on and around the former Radio Maldwyn building off the Back Lane car park.
The selected contractor is expected to be named within the next week once final contracts are signed.
Part of the area has already been demolished and cleared before Christmas in readiness for construction to begin.

A bike hub will also be erected near the site to allow secure storage of bikes as well as charging points for electric bikes. This is exected to be installed in February.
The riverside venue will create an attraction for people to visit Newtown and will include a range of visitor services, as well as an area for local retailers to promote their products.
