Staylittle Outdoor Centre and Clywedog Sailing Club are celebrating after achieving 'Onboard' status for their work with local schools as part of a national programme.

To celebrate, a fleet of new onboard boats, funded through a partnership of Sport Wales and Powys Sport Development, has been launched at at Llyn Clywedog to help more youngsters learn how to sail.

Onboard is a programme developed by the Royal Yachting Association to help introduce sailing and windsurfing as a asport to youth and junior children. Staylittle Outdoor Centre has become the Mid Wales Onboard Development Office and has employed an Onboard Co-ordinator to implement the links between schools, clubs and centres.

Staylittle Outdoor Centre provides outdoor learning opportunities for the majority of schools in Powys., A Powys County Council run centre, it has been in existence for many years and has seen thousands of children pass through its doors. Its Onboard partner, Clywedog Sailing Club, has been in existence since 1968 and has recently seen a surge in cadet membership.
