Town network launches updated directory

A new and revised Covid-19 business directory has been launched by the Mayor of Newtown, providing information on food and essential outlets and services open in the town.

The directory, published by the Newtown Network, includes takeaway businesses providing meals.

It follows the success of the first directory published by the network which was originally set up by volunteers and now involves the town council, Powys Association of Voluntary Organisations, Ponthafren and others.

The Mayor, Cllr David Selby, today launched the updated online version of the business directory. It can be found at www.newtownnetwork.org.uk/shops-services.

"Since the lockdown, local businesses have been finding innovative and controlled ways of provided food and take-away food for the town."

"There are now 16 businesses which provide take-away food either for delivery or collection in Newtown. In addition others supply it from out of town or on an occasional basis," he said.

"These local businesses have proved that it is possible to adapt to the current circumstances, and provide high quality food and service.  They deserve both our thanks and support."

The directory is published online at www.newtownnetwork.org.uk/shops-services.

Any Newtown business wishing to have their service added to the directory should fill out on the online form.

The Newtown Network has also set up a network of angels around the town to help people in need.
