Festive shop window winners announced

Three winners have been revealed for this year's Newtown Christmas Shop Window Competition.

"Quite which shop had the best Christmas display was the challenge for those who went out to check how local businesses had immersed themselves in the Christmas spirit for the annual shop window competition," said a Newtown Town Council spokesperson.

Organised by Newtown and Llanllwchaiarn Town Council and Newtown Chamber of Trade the judges had difficult decisions to make from the great number of entries.

Judges Cllr. David Selby and Carnival Queen Shannon assisted by Mrs Mary Tudor (Chamber of Trade Chair) decided that the three winners were Milwyn Jenkins, Bloomers and Newtopia.

Cllr. David Selby, Mayor, was delighted with the number of entries and the increasing standard of those entries. “Well done to the winners of the Christmas Shop Window Competition.  There were over 50 entries from businesses around the town and they have all helped brighten our town centre at this important time of the year.

"These winners followed the Victorian Christmas theme and showed imagination and skill in their window displays. I urge all local residents to spend time and at least part of their Christmas spend in our local town centre businesses. Let's spread the cheer this Christmas."
