Workers stories sought at museum open day

The stories and experiences of people who have worked in Newtown's industries over the decades is being sought as part of a project being undertaken.

Newtown Textile Museum in Commercial Street will be having a special open day on Saturday, 26th October to allow people to give their stories.

"The Museum wants to hear the stories and experiences of working in Newtown in the days when there was more industry in the town – for example the cycle factory, the tannery, the laundry, the shirt factory," said David Selby.

"This is part of a special event to celebrate Welsh Museums Festival Week. Photos and artefacts will be on display in the Museum to help to prompt memories – and show upcoming generations what was there in the past.

"Do visit with your stories and any photographs or memorabilia of that time to share with others, or just to experience the Museum before our winter closure. The Museum will be open from 1130 to 1600. Everyone will be welcome.
