Praise for town charity collectors

23/05/2011 @ 09:56

A street collection in Newtown and at two supermarkets in the town has raised more than £2,000 for Marie Curie Cancer Care.

Volunteers were out in force in the town and at Tescos and Morrison’s supermarkets as part of the annual Great Daffodil Appeal.

“We want to thank all the volunteers who kindly gave up a few hours of their time and to everyone who donated to such a worthwhile cause,” said Shropshire and North Wales Community Fundraiser Debbie Rowley.

“In Newtown we have raised a total of £2,049.43. It all goes towards helping terminally ill people to be cared for by our nurses at home. It means so much to them.

“Marie Curie Cancer Care Great Daffodil appeal is our largest annual campaign and we take massive delight in seeing villages, towns and cities turning yellow to support Marie Curie Cancer Care.”

Anyone who is able to offer some of their free time to help the charity should contact Debbie Rowley on 01745 352912 or 07798 638074, or visit the Marie Curie Cancer Care Fundraising Office, Unit W10, Morfa Clwyd Business Centre, Marsh Road, Rhyl, Denbighshire LL18 2AF.
