The Llanfair Line’s annual Steam Gala promises to be something special after organisers revealed a fantastic line-up of attractions and events.
The annual extravaganza will take place on August 30, 31 and September 1 with activities at both Welshpool and Llanfair Caereinion stations.
Special features include:
· Steam-hauled train service with 'Countess' and 'Joan', plus heritage diesels on short-turn services
· Classic Bus from car park by the Tourist Information Centre to both Welshpool Raven Square and Llanfair Caereinion stations (Saturday only)
At Welshpool:
· The W&L Track Gang display, including the Wasp and visiting pump trolley from Sittingbourne and Kemsley Light Railway
· 'Monarch' and 'Dougal' on display
· Model Railway Exhibition
· Ride on miniature railway
· Trade Stands
· Mid Wales Classic Car Club – Sunday only
At Llanfair Caereinion:
· Workshop guided tours to view restoration of Locomotive No.699.01 ‘Sir Drefaldwyn’ and commissioning work on visiting U-Class locomotive ‘Zillertal’ on hire from the Zillertalbahn in Austria
· Display by Friends of the Sierra Leone National Railway Museum
· Llanfair Connections – New ‘Pop up Museum’, Model Engineering, 16mm Steam Model Railway and the ‘Welshpool Cattle Dock Timeline’
· Visiting vintage vehicles and traction engines
· Trade Stands
· Saturday night photography
· Real Ale Bar on Friday Evening, Saturday and Sunday
