Newtown History and Fun Day Success

Newtown History and Fun Day pulled in hundreds of residents and visitors to Newtown, demonstrating that history can be fun for all ages.

With re-enactments, stands, stalls, displays and activities for the young and old, visitors were not only able to learn a bit about Newtown's history and people such as Robert Owen, the social reformer, Pryce Pruce-Jones of the Pruce-Jones empire and others.

"We had a great day and reaction to the event has been great," said Newtown Mayor, Cllr Joy Jones, who organised the day with other volunteers. "The sun was out and the crowds came in. It's great to see such an event in Newtown and we hope to see more like this in the future."
