Abacare staff go all festive

Staff at Abacare will be pulling on their best festive jumpers in aid of a national charity later this month.

Carers from Abacare will be wearing Christmas jumpers for Save the Children’s Christmas Jumper Day and fundraising for the charity on Friday, December 14.

Jane Jones, Branch Manager at Abacare’s Newtown office, said: “For the past few years our staff have been involved with Christmas Jumper Day in aid of Save the Children and once again this year they will be donning their brightest and boldest festive pullovers in aid of this very worthy cause.

“Everyone who turns up to work in a Christmas jumper will be making a donation to the charity. Our carers will also be collecting any donations people wish to make while they are out and about on their calls.”

Save the Children is an international non-governmental organisation that promotes children’s rights, provides relief and helps support children in developing countries.

On Friday, December 14 millions of people across the country will get together in their festive knits and donate £2 to the charity to help children in the UK and around the world to make their mark. Last year (2017) more than four million people took part.

A £2 donation could pay for the antibiotics to treat five children suffering from pneumonia, one of the biggest killers of children.

Jane added: “Christmas Jumper Day is always great fun as we see who turns up in the loudest and silliest jumper. Our service users have said in the past that having carers turn up in their Christmas jumpers really brightens up their day too, so not only are we helping a worthwhile cause, but we’re also bringing a smile to the community too.”
