Housing association staff give up a day to help charities

Staff from Mid Wales Housing Association’s Newtown headquarters have been busy involved in a community project day.

Staff from the association’s offices throughout Mid Wales took part in the event, along with those of Care and Repair, volunteering their time to help charitable organisations and community projects around Powys and Ceredigion.

Over 50 members of staff between both organisations gave up their day to help out with the projects.

Litter picking along the Montgomeryshire Canal towpath was among the activities undertaken, along with a beach clean-up in Borth, making an early contribution to the All Wales Beach Clean initiative.

Litter picking also took place around two of the Mid Wales Housing Association’s estates.

Shane Perkins, chief executive of the Mid Wales Housing Group, said: “Being part of the community is something we value and it is important to us to engage with and get involved in the areas in which we operate.

“Many charitable organisations and community projects work so hard to help others and we were delighted to make a small but positive contribution to each of the projects during the day."
