Newtown Amateur Dramatic Society is preparing to celebrate its Golden Jubilee year with a range of events.
The society, which is based at the Powys Little Theatre in Canal Road, has already begun readings for its first play of the season, due to be staged week commencing 12 November.
"New members will receive a warm welcome," said Pam Edwards of the society. "There are opportunities to read for a part, help with building the set or organising costume, and there’s a wealth of backstage and front-of-house tasks to do during play week - stewarding, dealing with props, selling tickets and raffle tickets and serving refreshments."
For the first time, the society is offering audience members the chance to enjoy a glass of wine before the performance and during the interval at its next production.
"There is also the opportunity to hire the charming little theatre for concerts, film shows, meetings, etc - a really different venue," added Pam.
"If that’s not enough, there will be an opportunity for members to voice opinions on how best to mark the very important anniversary of the first play to be staged in the theatre 50 years ago.
"Ideas are welcomed from the public, too, but why not join the Society and be involved hands-on in the fun?"
