Newtown is being told to get its ‘dancing shoes ready’ when its latest night spot will open its doors later this summer.

Work is continuing at the former Crystals building to turn it into the ‘Steam Mill’, a brand new entertainment centre that will be opening with Phase One in the very near future.

The investors behind the project have updated us to say that “work is coming along well and we can’t wait to open our doors for business”.

In the meantime, they have soft launched their web site with a holding page promising “lots of intriguing developments coming up”.

“We have launched the website for anyone to send us enquiries and also a Facebook page so we can keep people updated on what is happening,” said Chris Greatorex, who is the man behind Great Fitness, the hugely successful fitness centre which transformed the former Pola building in Welshpool.

The former Crystals is going through a major transformation with new toilets, boothed seating area, lighting, new DJ kit, as well as comprehensive painting and decorating.
