Urgent call for foster carers

As Powys marks Foster Care Fortnight from May 14-25, a call has been made for more local people to step forward to provide a home for children.

And there is a chance for those interested to have an informal chat to find out more information at two drop-ins to be held at Newtown Morrisons on May 15 and Welshpool Tesco on May 22.

The annual nationwide campaign encourages people to consider fostering and asks them to look at the skills and qualities needed to make great Foster Carers.

“Foster Care Fortnight is an excellent opportunity to showcase the difference that foster care makes to the lives of fostered children and young people,” said a spokesperson. “Foster care doesn't just transform the lives of the young people who are fostered, it also has the power to change the lives of foster carers, their families and all those who are involved in fostering.”
