Ab Fab star thanked by the 'people of Powys'

Absolutely Fabulous star Joanna Lumley has been thanked by the 'people of Powys' for her work in supporting the Gurkhas who have a base in the county.

The Chairman of Powys County Council, Cllr Garry Banks, presented the Powys Gold Kite Award and Certificate of Appreciation for Exemplary Achievement to the star in recognition for her fight in recognising the rights of Gurkhas who spend large chunks of the year based in the county.

Miss Lumley said: “I feel very honoured to receive this award and will wear the Gold Kite broach with pride." Powys has a long association with the Gurkha Regiment who spend spend considerable time training in the challenging Mid Wales countryside.
