Free weekend bus services to Cardiff

06/07/2017 @ 09:55

A free weekend bus service between Newtown and Cardiff is to be introduced this weekend and every weekend until May next year as part of a Welsh Government initiative.

The government says the current daily TrawsCymru service that operates up to seven times a day between Newtown and Cardiff will be free at weekends.

The service, known as TrawsCymru T4, operates between Newtown, Brecon, Merthyr Tydfil, Pontypridd and Cardiff seven days a week in both directions.

Charges will remain Monday to Friday, but it'll be free at weekends.

The government says that if the service is successful, more money will be allocated to provide additional services where necessary.

The free weekend scheme will be across Wales on other TrawsCymru routes.

Ken Skates, Transport Minister, said they would consider if to extend the scheme beyond May next year if it proved successful.
