Clock ticking down to Saturday's town carnival

06/06/2017 @ 05:47

The clock is ticking down to this year’s Newtown Carnival - the 130th recorded to be held in Newtown.

The annual procession through the town centre of floats will again take  place on Saturday, followed by events and entertainment at the Town Hall Grounds.

Organisers are hoping for a large number of floats which will meet at Lower Canal Street before heading around the town centre before dropping Carival Queen, Billiee-Jo Lloyd and her attendants off at the Town Hall Grounds.

There is still then to book a float into the procession. Anyone interested can email newtowncarnival@hotmail.co.uk for more details.

Stalls, entertainment and music are planned at the Town Hall Grounds throughout the day and into the evening, with organisers hoping for a good turnout of spectators along the route of the float.

On the Sunday the now regular battle of the bands will take place as part of an event organised by Newtown Silver Band. Bands from across the country are expected to take part.
